About Evos Amsterdam West: Evos Amsterdam West is a state-of-the-art terminal for the storage and blending of all kinds of fuels. The products are delivered by and to sea-going vessels and barges. The terminal has a pivotal role in securing supply for Europe and the rest of the world, and is actively developing sustainable product flows as part of the energy transition. We have around 80 employees in our Amsterdam West terminal.
About the IT Team: The IT team at EVOS is dedicated to ensuring seamless, secure and efficient operations at all terminals by consistently driving optimization, digitalization, secure and stable IT services.
The IT team consists of teams split across IT Security, Business Applications, End User Services, IT infrastructure and Operational Technology and consist of experienced colleagues together with our strategic service partners, who are together responsible for managing the relations with our suppliers and driving procurement excellence in our terminals as well as contributing to Evos Group. The IT team reports to the Head of IT, who is based in the Netherlands.
About the role: Evos Amsterdam is establishing a critical new role for an Operational Technology (OT) Engineer to enhance our local capabilities and ensure the reliability and security of our industrial control systems. Working closely with the Group Operational Technology Manager, this colleague will be stationed at one of the Amsterdam terminals, serving as the primary on-site expert for all OT matters.
This role encompasses managing day-to-day OT issues, leading local site implementation of OT projects, and championing key initiatives such as alarm management, cybersecurity, IT/OT integration, maintenance programs, and process optimization. The OT Engineer will also be responsible for OT documentation and effective vendor management, all while adhering to Evos' OT standards.
Responsibilities:
Act as the local site champion and lead for all terminal OT projects, ensuring successful planning, execution, and integration at the Amsterdam West terminal.
Provide day-to-day troubleshooting support for terminal OT systems. Help diagnose, tune, and configure changes to control strategy logic and operator graphics, escalating complex issues to external vendor partners when needed.
Help rollout and champion Evos’ alarm management program at the terminal to optimize operator effectiveness, reduce alarm floods, and minimize false alarms, aligning with industry best practices.
Identify opportunities for leveraging OT systems to enhance process efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and improve overall operational performance.
Drive the implementation of Evos' OT cybersecurity technologies and processes, guarding critical assets from cyber threats. Participate in security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Liaise effectively between group- and terminal-level stakeholders to ensure seamless communication, coordination, and alignment on all OT-related matters.
Develop and optimize OT system maintenance programs, including predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, to maximize system reliability and longevity.
Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date documentation for all OT systems, including system architectures, configurations, network diagrams, standard operating procedures, and change logs.
Manage relationships with external OT system vendors and service providers, ensuring adherence to contracts, service level agreements, and quality standards.
Participate in continuing education and training to address knowledge gaps in OT.
About you: To qualify for this role we expect that you match the following requirements:
Bachelor's degree or technologist certificate in closely related technical field.
Eagerness to work with a wide range of industrial automation technologies.
Experience in the bulk liquid storage terminal industry is beneficial.
Experience with industrial control systems platforms (DeltaV and SIMATIC PCS 7 are assets).
Knowledge of industrial networking, communication protocols, and cybersecurity best practices is advantageous but not required.
Experience in leading or significantly contributing to alarm management initiatives.
Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to lead and deliver complex technical initiatives independently.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Fluency in English and Dutch is required.
